Thanksgiving Plans Involve Fried Okra & Unexpected Travel Plans

Thanksgiving conversations on the show took an unexpected turn this week when fried okra became the star of the holiday debate. Bobby has been requesting it, hoping it shows up on the Thanksgiving table. But then the rest of the Bobby Bones Show pointed out that fried okra isn’t exactly “traditional."

Still, Amy insisted Thanksgiving is all about personal traditions anyway and fried okra could absolutely become one. The only catch? Bobby wasn't planning on making it himself. Instead, the backup plan involves swinging by Charlie’s Chicken in Oklahoma, assuming it’s open, to get the okra fix he's been craving.

Everyone shared their Thanksgiving plans, and this year the group is all over the map. Bobby will be in Oklahoma with his wife's family. Amy will head to Thanksgiving hosted by her boyfriend’s dad and his wife, a repeat from last year, but with their kids this time since it’s her year in the holiday rotation. Eddie’s family is traveling in except for his brother, who couldn’t get vacation time. Thanksgiving Day off isn’t the problem, it’s the travel on Wednesday and Friday that makes it impossible. And honestly, he got plenty of support for skipping. The team agreed that Thanksgiving is the “junior varsity” holiday compared to Christmas. If it’s too hard to make it, just save your energy for December.

Lunchbox is traveling to North Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with his wife’s family. He insisted he was fine with it, though his tone said otherwise. He explained that they usually stay home to “make memories,” but that only seems to apply when it’s his family’s turn. When it’s her side’s holiday, suddenly traveling becomes the plan. Still, he’s packing up for North Carolina, Airbnb and all, and doing his best to embrace the trip.
