I wanted everyone to hear Melissa's story! I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa at The Gold And Diamond Scorce last year.
I was walking through the store with Steve and Julie Weintraub, and Julie said, "I want you to meet Melissa." I remember thinking, "Melissa?" Julie was sharing stories about how many families and women that Hands Across The Bay has helped out. Then.... I met Melissa. We started talking, and I could tell right away that this girl had an amazing spirit and positivity you don't find in many people.
For the next 40 min, I listened as Melissa told me her story. I was stunned, holding back tears, and not well I might add at what I was hearing first hand from a true survivor. I must have given her 10 hugs in those few minutes we stood there. I remember walking away knowing I had been forever changed.
The best part is before I left that day, Melissa and her fiancé were outside having lunch, "picnic style." I had the chance to meet Cameron, the man that saved her life.
That day meant so much to me and Melissa's story needs to be heard! Congratulations Melissa and Cameron on your beautiful day.
You both deserve the world and so much more!
