A Florida woman was just rescued from a storm drain...for the third time in two years.
You know what they say: First time might be an accident. Second time is a weird coincidence. Third time is definitely a pattern!
Delray Beach police said they responded to a call of someone possibly in distress while swimming in a canal near Lindell Boulevard.
When officers asked if the woman needed help, police said she ignored them and climbed into a storm drain pipe. As the rescuers called to her, she crawled farther and farther in. Eventually, firefighters were able to confine her to a small space and rescue her with a ladder and rope (sounds like the same technique you'd use to rescue a kitten up a tree, but ok).
Here's where it gets weird: The woman was also rescued from a storm drain in March of 2021, and again two months after that. At what point do we admit this isn't s strange coincidence, and ask her why in the world she keeps going down there? And is it a "rescue" if she keeps doing it on purpose and clearly doesn't want to come out? Maybe it's time for a mental health professional to step in. Just one person's opinion.
