A 20-year-old Riverview man is in need of a kidney. I saw this story on the ABC Action News site this morning, and wanted to share here as well. Maybe we can help find a match for this young man!
Randall Smith found out 5 years ago that his kidneys were failing. He has been on the organ donor list since he was a teen, but so far a match hasn't been found. Randall is blood type O-positive. A lot of people have "organ donor" on their driver's license, but that is for a deceased donation. If you're interested in becoming a living donor, a simple cheek swab or blood test can determine if there's a patient who could benefit from your donation. Your profile will go into a medical database, and you would get a phone call if you are a match with a qualified patient.
