How to remove personal data from Google search results

I've always thought it was SUPER CREEPY how easy it is to find personal information about private citizens via a Google search. With very little info about a person, you can easily find addresses, phone numbers, voter registrations and more...and scammers/theives use this information to take advantage of unsuspecting people all the time. Not to mention, it can be a real security risk if you have a crazy ex/stalker/whatever. I've just never liked it, but until now, I thought that was just a price you pay for living in the digital age.

BUT NOT ANYMORE!

Google's Vice President of Trust (sounds a little like the Ministry of Truth from 1984 but ok) has announced that the company will now allow you to decide what information comes up in search results when someone Googles you. They've published a how-to blog post showing step-by-step how users can manage their personal data on the platform. FINALLY.

HERE is a link to the blog with info on how to determine what people can and can't find about you when they Google your name/address/phone/etc. It may take a few minutes to go through it all, so save the link for a moment when you've got the time to properly do it. Be safe out there, friends!
