There have been a lot of drawbridge-related incidents in Florida in the last couple months. There's THIS one, THIS one...and now this one:
A group of boaters in Jupiter (east coast of Florida) were anchored under a drawbridge when the span started to go up. The machinery crushed the boat like a soda can! NSWF watning: there's language in the video. You can watch on mute and still get the point.
It looks like the boaters might have been seeking shelter from some rain...but there's also signage under the bridge warning people of moving machinery, and there's usually an audible alarm (horn, bell, etc) warning people of when the bridge is raising...so although I feel bad for these people and their crushed boat, this was a completely avoidable incident, had they paid attention to the printed warnings. I'm just glad everyone is ok...and I'm guessing they learned a very embarrassing and expensive lesson about drawbridges and marine safety.
