Keith Urban shared the stage with a surprise guest at one of his recent tour stops.

Urban posted a clip of the moment he introduced the crowd to Britnee Kellogg, who joined the country megastar to perform “We Were Us,” a duet with Miranda Lambert that appeared on Urban’s 2013 studio album, Fuse. Kellogg is one of 12 emerging artists competing on The Road, an upcoming competition series featuring Urban as the headlining artist. Kellogg and the other up-and-coming musicians serve as Urban’s opening acts on tour. The soon-to-premiere series was executive produced by Blake Shelton and Yellowstones Taylor Sheridan.

“I’m gonna bring somebody out to sing with me who you guys don’t know yet, but you will,” Urban told the audience on Thursday (June 26) at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. “We did a TV show called The Road. ...I thought as we start this tour and play in different places, occasionally, it might be great to bring some of the people competing in this competition out to sing a song. This girl comes from Phoenix, Arizona, but I wanted to bring her out to sing. You’re gonna see her on the show. Please make welcome Britnee Kellogg.”

Kellogg commented on Urban’s recent Instagram post that it was “an honor” to join him on stage. “Thank you so much for having me out and for being one of the kindest humans on planet earth. ❤️❤️”

Urban added that he’ll “have a few others joining me at random shows throughout the rest of the tour.” The country star is currently on his “High and Alive World Tour” with Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen and Karley Scott Collins. Find the list of tour stops here.

Urban previously said in a statement while speaking about The Road that he “spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists. Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught, like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd. For me, touring has always been my first love. It’s where the rubber meets the road. But it’s the only road to take if you want to be a performer.”

The Road will premiere this fall on CBS. The show will air on Sundays from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, and will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. Meet the rest of the 12 contestants here.
