Introducing new, healthier Reese's cups!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

For those of us who try to eat "clean," it's a total bummer that Reese's peanut butter cups aren't exactly a big part of our healthy lifestyle. Until now!

Hershey's--the parent company of Reese's--has announced they're going to release a "healthier" version of our beloved PB cups that have 40% less calories and sugar! HOLD THE PHONE! THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!

But wait. Instead of reducing the sugar or finding healthier ingredients, all they're doing is shrinking the size of the cups by 40%. Wait, what?! NO.

They're going to start selling a new version of Reese's Cups in March that are 40% thinner than the current ones.  So that means less chocolate, less peanut butter, and, by definition, fewer calories and less sugar.

If we reduce the numbers on a current Reese's Cup by 40%, you'd drop from 110 calories to 66 . . . 6.5 grams of fat to 3.9 . . . and 11 grams of sugar to 6.6.

This bums me out. I was really hoping for a same-sized cup that's healthier, so I can eat more. But they've got me eating less, and I'm not about that life. Reese's this is NOT what America needs in these trying times!

And here's a question ALL of us are asking: will these smaller cups be priced 40% less than the regular cups? Or is this just a sheisty way of charging us the same for less product? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.
