There are a lot of things that could slow down runners during a marathon. They can get a cramp, a tight muscle or just need a rest. But making a stop to get married? Haven't seen that before!
Whitney and Steven participated in last weekend's Detroit Marathon. They started the race as girlfriend and boyfriend but crossed the finish line as newlyweds.
Whitney, wearing a veil, and Steven, in a tuxedo shirt, stopped at the 13.1 mile mark where they were met by a friend who is an ordained minister. They exchanged vows in a 10-minute ceremony, shared a toast over some Gatorade, and then returned to the pavement to finish the second half of the race.
Congratulations to the happy couple! Although, running 26 miles seems like a great way to ruin an otherwise fun day. ;)
