In Florida, we see gators all the time, and most of us don't think much of it. Alligators are part of the Sunshine State landscape.
But here's one that would freak out even a lifelong resident (like me!):
A Florida teen was chased up a tree by a big ol' gator in Titusville!
The 15-year-old girl was floating in a raft when she saw an 11-foot alligator approaching her, so she steered her raft to the shore to get away from the gator. The animal continued to pursue her, so she climbed a nearby tree. The alligator wouldn't give up! It stayed at the base of the tree, hissing at the teen until a deputy came and shot the gator!
According to a frantic 911 call made by the teen's mother, there was more than one alligator involved.
The mother called 911 after her daughter had been up the tree overhanging a creek for about 30 minutes, according to the report. She told dispatch that the teen scaled the tree to escape alligators who were not allowing her to escape from her perch.
The deputy shot the gator with his state-issued rifle and helped the teen down from the tree to safety.
So what did YOU do this weekend?!
