Richard Jenkins is a teenager in Philadelphia who used to live with his mom at a homeless shelter. He tried to keep his classmates from learning that he was homeless, but they eventually found out about it, and Richard was made fun of pretty constantly. But he didn't let that get him down! Richard worked super hard and has been accepted to Harvard University! Not only that, Harvard has granted him a full-ride scholarship!
After being bullied all through high school, the 18-year0old says, “That’s when I realized I’ve got to buckle in because I can’t have my potential kids going through what I’m going through now.”
The star student’s mother says she “was not surprised” he got into Harvard. Jenkins plans to study computer science so he can create a more intuitive virtual assistant.
