A new study has shown that there are more germs on barbells at the gym than there are on toilet seats.
A LOT more.
Researchers collected bacteria samples from both and found that barbells are a staggering 362 times dirtier than toilet seats.
In order to SUPPOSEDLY protect yourself from this gunk, you should wipe down gym equipment each and every time before using it. NEVER walk around barefoot (EEW!) and never touch your face (eyes, mouth, etc) after using equipment. Be sure to wash your hands and change out of your gym clothes immediately after a workout.
I'm not a germ freak, but reading this makes me VERY thankful that I have a gym in my garage at home. The only germs in there are mine. They're like, clean germs. ;)
