South Florida Is Ready For The Clock To Strike Midnight

South Florida celebrating New Year's Eve in style. Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis says they're hosting a family-friendly "Downtown Countdown" street festival along Southwest 2nd Street and Southwest 5th Avenue from four-thirty this afternoon until 1 a.m. They're ringing in the New Year with the annual lighted anchor drop at midnight. Extra security will be on hand following last weekend's mass shooting leaving five people in the Himmarshee area hospitalized. In Miami, they're gearing up for the 40th annual New Year's Eve bash at Bayfront Park. Thousands are expected to be on hand for the fireworks show and the hoisting of the iconic Neon Big Orange.
