The mother of twins who were left to die from apparent poisoning in her SUV in the Golden Glades has been formally charged with killing them today.
Shirlene Alcime, 42, who survived a suicide attempt after jumping off the flyover ramp, pled not guilty to two counts of aggravated manslaughter of a child today through her attorney.
She was initially only charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm and was rolled into the courtroom Friday in a wheelchair and wearing a green vest to face the new charges.
In February, the twins were found foaming at the mouth, the ME's manner of death deemed it homicide but could not determine what killed them.
Alcime initially told investigators she'd been plotting to kill her two children and herself due to financial concerns, but she never admitted to committing the crime.
Alcime continues to be held without bond and is expected to go to trial in April of 2025.
