Broward County, FL - A Broward County middle school teacher and summer camp counselor has been arrested on child pornography charges.
Authorities say 25-year-old Quinton Womack Wedlaw was taken into custody by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday while working as a counselor at a summer camp.
An investigation into Wedlaw began after Google tipped off authorities about inappropriate images in his account.
Deputies found multiple cellphones and over 25 videos depicting child pornography on various devices.
Wedlaw, who appeared before a judge on Wednesday, faces ten counts of child pornography possession.
According to Wedlaw's arrest report, he was a teacher at Parkway Middle School in Fort Lauderdale and was working as a counselor at Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park during the summer.
Broward County officials confirmed that Wedlaw has been terminated from his position as a camp counselor.
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) issued a statement acknowledging the arrest, stating "Due to summer break, he is not currently working at the school. For the upcoming school year, he will be reassigned away from the school and students pending the outcome of the case."
In court, prosecutors urged the judge to keep Wedlaw in jail, citing the severity of the charges and his employment around children.
The judge set Wedlaw's bond at $200,000.
Wedlaw has been ordered to avoid any school campuses, parks, or camps frequented by children, have no contact with minors, and have no access to the internet pending the case's outcome.
