Fort Lauderdale, FL - A group of juveniles ignited fireworks inside a South Florida Walmart leading to a fire that damaged clothing.
Authorities say Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the incident at the Walmart located at 2500 W Broward Blvd around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Detectives reported that the unidentified juveniles took fireworks from the front of the store and set one off in the clothing section.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said store employees witnessed the juveniles igniting the fireworks and extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher.
Authorities suspect this may have been a prank that went wrong.
Police are collecting information to forward to their arson investigators for further examination.
According to store management, officers were unable to review surveillance footage as it was not immediately accessible.
No injuries were reported.
As of late Wednesday night, no arrests have been made.
