Amy’s Son Came Home From School With Request For Marshmallows

Amy's son came home from school recently and told his mom they need to start keeping marshmallows in stock.

He learned that eating marshmallows will keep people from getting sick. However, Amy figured out that her son was missing a few details. He got confused because he learned in school that marshmallow plants were used back in the 1800s to help soothe sore throats. But it's not the marshmallows we know today and no marshmallows we buy in the grocery store are not growing on plants.

The whole Bobby Bones Show was shocked to learn that there was such thing as a marshmallow plant and they are edible and the marshmallows we buy in grocery stores do have ingredients that come from the plant. Here are some fun facts the show learned about marshmallow plants:

  • They grow from 4ft to 5ft tall
  • They have flowers and velvety leaves
  • The roots, leaves, and plants are all edible
  • The plant aids in digestion and on skin issues
