Keith Urban teased an unexpected new project in the works.

The country superstar, 58, said at the annual Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Nashville, Tennessee, “it’s the first time I’ve done an album of covers.” But the genre took everyone by surprise. “There is one original (song) on the record,” Urban confirms. “It’s a thematic record (of) yacht rock songs,” throwing it back to a genre that surged in popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s. “You think I’m kidding? I’m not kidding.” iHeartRadio's Phoenix, Arizona-based KNIX shared a clip from Urban's performance on Instagram on Monday March 23), noting that Urban confirmed Little Big Town, John Mayer and Michael McDonald will join the country star on his upcoming yacht rock record.

Urban hasn’t shared any additional details about his collection of yacht rock covers as of publication time on Monday (March 23), including which covers will appear on the project or a possible release date for the project.

His latest studio album is HIGH, a 12-track project from 2024 that he expanded into an 18-track deluxe edition in October 2025. Urban also commemorated his headlining tour with the HIGH AND A(LIVE) in December 2025.
