The Athletics (54-68) blanked the Rays (58-63) 6-0 on Tuesday night in West Sacramento, California, to even the three-game series at a game apiece.
The As got a single run in the second before breaking the game open with a three-run frame in the third. They added single runs in the fourth and eighth innings en route to the 6-0 win.
The Rays offense was unable to figure out Jacob Lopez (6-6, 3.30) who pitched seven shutout innings in which he allowed four hits while striking out nine and walking none.
