Governor DeSantis Signs the Florida Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026

The day before the start of the new fiscal year, Florida finally has its budget. Governor Ron DeSantis signing the 115-point-one-billion-dollar budget after two legislative session extensions over tax cuts and policy approaches to reduce spending. Highlights of the balanced budget include a two percent raise for state employees, an elimination of the business rent tax, and eight-hundred-thirty million to pay outstanding debt. It also includes a back-to-school and disaster preparation sales tax holiday, which will now be made permanent and a Second Amendment tax holiday, offering tax-free purchases from September to December.
