The Miami Marlins (24-38) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (34-30) 11-10 in ten innings on Saturday afternoon in Miami. The loss snapped Tampa Bay's winning streak at four games.
On a day when Evan Longoria signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a Ray, this game was back and forth throughout. The Rays built leads of 4-0 and 6-4 before Miami took a 10-6 lead. The Rays rallied all the way back to tie the game 10-10 in the seventh inning, before the Marlins got one run in the tenth that would prove to be enough to win this game.
The Rays will once again look to win the series against the Marlins when the two teams meet in the rubber game of the series coming up on Sunday. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 10:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
