Alan Jackson Emotionally Confirms Retirement From Touring — What We Know

Alan Jackson is retiring from touring, and the legendary country artist revealed the destination of his final performance.

Jackson, 66, said he’s “winding down,” and confirmed “this is my last road show,” to the sold out crowd on Saturday evening (May 17) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jackson took the stage at Fiserv Forum on his “Last Call: One More for the Road Tour.” It was an emotional moment for the award-winning country star, who admitted “y’all are gonna make me tear up (on stage),” notes a press release issued Monday (May 19).

Jackson’s “big finale” will take place in summer 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Georgia-born megastar, who previously opened up about his Charcot-Marie-Tooth diagnosis that impacts his nerves and ability to perform, confirmed this year is his “last year of major touring.” Details about Jackson’s Nashville show have not been announced as of publication time on Monday.

“We just felt like we had to end it all where it all started, and that’s in Nashville, Tennessee – Music City – where country music lives. I gotta do the last one there,” Jackson said, according to the press release. “This is the last one out on the road for me. …I just have to thank y’all for supporting my music all these years, coming to the shows, buying the records and having a good time with us. I’m so fortunate, so lucky.”

Earlier this month, Jackson delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech as he received the Academy of Country Music’s first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award named in his honor. He performed “Remember When” during the milestone 60th annual show in Fisco, Texas, and shared a sweet tribute to his wife of more than four decades, Denise Jackson.

“I came to Nashville with a paper sack full of songs and a crazy dream, and all these years later [to be] standing here receiving such an honor like this is just mind-blowing,” Jackson said in his speech, in part. “I thank God all the time for all the people that helped me get here and maintain this. I can’t even begin to thank everybody…but I especially want to thank my fans all over this country – and all over the world – that have appreciated my music so much. …I do wanna especially thank one person that’s been my best friend since I was 17 years old, my wife, Denise… She’s loved me through the good and the bad and the happy and the sad and has influenced me, given me three beautiful daughters, and helped me keep my feet on the ground all these years, and I wouldn’t be here without her.”
