Semi Slams Into School Bus in Rural N. Florida

LEBANON STATION, FL -- Two students went to hospitals with serious injuries after a dramatic crash between a school bus and a semi in rural Levy County Wednesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the bus was northbound on lightly-traveled U.S. 19 just south of Lebanon Station, when it stopped to discharge a rider at SE 140 Lane with flashing lights Wednesday afternoon. The truck driver failed to stop and the right side of the tractor and front of the trailer plowed into the back of the bus.

Five of the 10 passengers got taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, two in serious condition.
