Things continue to head in the right direction when it comes to COVID cases in Florida.

The weekly trend for new cases is now the lowest since July 12.

Palm Beach County's daily positivity rate is down to 6 point 5 percent, but that's still higher than the preferred rate of no higher than 5 percent.

County Health Director Dr. Alina Alonso says it's no time to let your guard down.

"We need to be prepared in case there's another surge in the winter and the holidays approaching."

She says it's typical for viruses from the Southern Hemisphere to migrate north in the winter and continues to push for vaccinations.

64 percent of county residents are fully vaccinated, while another 10 percent have gotten at least one shot.
