The former South Florida cop convicted in the death of Corey Jones is taking the case to the Florida Supreme Court.

Nouman Raja was a Palm Beach Gardens police officer when he shot and killed Jones as the man waited for a tow truck on the I-95 exit ramp to PGA Boulevard back in 2015.

Raja was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting.

Documents filed by the former cop's attorney are the first step in getting the state's highest court to consider whether an appeals court wrongfully upheld the conviction.
