Police warn of scammer impersonating a Police Officer in Polk County

This is a common scam that resurfaces every year, and today we were alerted that there is a scammer out there calling himself "Deputy Hicks with the Polk County Sheriff's Office." He's leaving a number on your voicemail for you to call him back about "an important legal matter." Do NOT fall for this. PLEASE call the non-emergency line 863-298-6200 if you ever have any questions about someone from PCSO contacting you. And never, ever send a stranger money over the phone. Be safe, everyone!
