(Miami, FL) -- Miami-Dade County has its first female mayor. Danielle Levine Cava claimed victory about an hour-and-a-half after polls closed. She said she received a call from fellow commissioner Esteban "Steve" Bovo conceding the race.
Although the mayor’s position is nonpartisan, county commissioner Levine Cava, campaigned as a Democrat. Her Republican opponent, Esteban Bovo, is also a county commissioner.
Levine Cava says she looks forward to working with Steve Bovo as they take on some of the biggest challenges the community has ever faced.
