LISTEN: Early Voting Begins Monday in Most Tampa Bay Area Counties

TAMPA -- Early voting begins across most of Florida Monday. Long lines are a possibility, but the Hillsborough County election supervisor doesn't expect the kinds of scenes reported in places like Texas and Georgia, where people have waited hours and even days to vote.

"Some of these states... don't have the option of no-excuse vote by mail, so they either have to vote early or vote Election Day," Latimer said.

Latimer says he has 26 sites in his county with 14 days of early voting. His website allows voters to check wait times at those sites. If one site has a longer wait time, the voter may choose another.

Latimer says voting in person could take longer this year, partly because of procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
