Poll by Florida College Says Nearly Half Oppose Taking a Knee

ST. LEO -- A new poll from a Florida college claims that support for athletes who kneel for the national anthem is growing.

More people still oppose athletes who bend a knee for the Star Spangled Banner than support the practice, but a poll from St. Leo University north of Tampa says the gap is getting smaller.

St Leo polled 1000 people nationwide in 2016 and 2020, and it says 43 percent either strongly or somewhat support the kneeling athletes compared with 34 percent in 2016... while opposition dropped to 58 to 46 percent. African Americans and Democrats show the strongest support for taking a knee, while about a third of whites and a fourth of Republicans support the practice.
