In a press conference from Jacksonville today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida is lifting all restrictions on youth activities, including athletics and summer camps.
“Effective immediately, Florida will be lifting all restrictions on youth activities including summer camps and athletics,” Gov. DeSantis said during a news conference in Jacksonville. “We believe this makes sense based on the data and observed experience.”
The Florida Department of Health is expected to post guidelines for keeping kids healthy and safe. The governor said restrictions are being lifted statewide, but cities/municipalities can make their own decisions based on local data. He also said that he trusts parents to make the best decisions for their children, in conjunction with their doctors, and their child's coaches.
