Fun fact: my first video game system ever was the full-size arcade version of Super Mario Brothers. My parents knew a guy who owned a bowling alley, and he was getting rid of some old games to make room for new ones, so they bought Super Mario Bros from the bowling alley dude and gave it to my brother and me for Christmas. For those of you who weren't alive yet in the early 90s, this was a BIG DEAL. Everyone wanted to come over and play. My brother and I played CONSTANTLY until it caught fire one day... yeah, I was home alone with my baby brother, and it caught fire, and fortunately, my 11-year old self had the presence of mind to unplug the game from the wall so the whole house didn't burn down. Everyone was fine, house didn't burn, end of story (also, in the early 90s, it wasn't a big deal to leave your 11-year-old in charge of your 4-year-old while you ran to the grocery store...we weren't as uptight then. Everyone lived. It's all good.).
Which brings me to the point of this post: An arcade in Tampa is putting smiles on plenty of faces by renting and delivering full-sized games to people's homes.
The Lowry Parcade (near Busch Blvd & Florida Ave) is delivering games for rental by the week or by the month. This means, regular people can now rent classic games like Mortal Kombat and Pac-Man, as well as pinball machines. Each machine is sanitized regularly and will be delivered to your home, and picked up at the end of your rental period. Now's a great time to introduce your kiddos to the games we grew up with!
