Cruise line refuses to refund trip after cancelation due to coronavirus

After a family canceled plans to travel southeast Asia due to fears of the coronavirus outbreak, Norwegian Cruise Line is refusing to refund the $32,000 (you read that right) they've already paid for the trip. Maui resident Pua Morrison said she and seven family members were scheduled to leave on a cruise scheduled to stop in Hong Kong.

They were set to sail Thursday on Norwegian Jade, which is due to leave Singapore on an itinerary that includes stops in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam before ending in Hong Kong on February 17th. “It was always a lifetime thing we wanted,” says Morrison. “We had excursions booked, we’ve updated the trip packages. This was a family vacation so we were going for the gusto.”

The Morrisons had even purchased trip insurance that covered unexpected cancelations, but when they contacted Norwegian to get their trip refunded, they were told the insurance doesn't cover epidemics.

I have a feeling this one will end up going to court. $32,000 is way too much money to just part ways with without a fight!
