11-year-old Aiden Jaquez from Illinois broke a world record last weekend by becoming the youngest person to run a half-marathon in each of the 50 states!
I'll repeat: he's 11.
He started his quest at age six, when he completed his first half-marathon in Sarasota with his grandmother. He fell in love with running, and started doing it regularly after that.
Since then, he’s been touring the country, running races. And when he and his family realized that he was on pace to break the record, they put in even extra effort to make sure it happened.
On Sunday, it was mission accomplished as he crossed the finish line of the IMT Des Moines Half Marathon in Iowa and celebrated with friends and family who had gathered to cheer him on along the way.
That's amazing! I've never done any run longer than a 5k, so I'm impressed that he did ONE half marathon, much less 50!! Way to go, Aiden!
