The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made history this season when they announced that they had hired two full-time female coaches to their staff--the first team to do so in the NFL. The Bucs also have the first male cheerleader on the squad! They're dropping traditional gender roles left and right and I love it!
And today, I read this:
According to research by the National Federation of State High Schools Association, more girls are playing on boys’ football teams than ever before. Yep, data from all 50 states and D.C. revealed that for the 2018-2019 school year 2,404 girls played tackle football on high school teams – the most ever recorded.
I think this is super cool. I always thought it would be fun to play REAL football when I was in high school, but the only option was "Powder Puff" ball, and I wasn't into that. I wanted to do to the same things the boys did. Well girls, now you can! Times are a-changin' and I think it's great!
Parents, I wonder how you'd feel about your daughters playing ball on the same team as the guys? I personally think that if a girl tries out for the team and can do all the things her male counterparts can do, then why shouldn't she be able to play?
