A woman on an electric rental scooter was pulled over for suspicion of DUI! An officer observed her driving the wrong way on a road, pulled her over, and gave a field sobriety test, which she failed. She was arrested for driving under the influence.
The woman claimed she only had two beers, and was using the scooter because she didn't want to drive her car since she knew she'd be drinking.
I'm pretty conflicted on this one. I mean, I know that driving anything with wheels when you're drunk is a no-no, and you could be a danger to yourself if you drive a scooter while intoxicated. But on the other hand, she was intentional about not driving a car because she'd planned to drink.
I will say this..she might have been able to talk her way out of getting arrested if she'd been nicer to the officer. She started screaming, cursing, and calling the officer names...so I'm not surprised that she got arrested. Maybe she would have experienced a different outcome if she'd remained calm...most of the officers I know have told me to my face that they're a lot less likely to be lenient with someone who has a bad attitude.
