Amazon delivery robots are on the streets of California!

Amazon delivery robots are officially on the streets of California.

The program -- called Scout -- features six-wheeled robots that roll along sidewalks from distribution points to homes, removing the need for vans and cars for that last mile, or in areas where parking is tight.

While keeping vans and cars off the roads is a big benefit, there’s some concern that people will get annoyed when they have to share the sidewalk with these machines.

Amazon will be keeping an eye on these robots -- which have been deployed in the Southern California city of Irvine -- to see how reliable they are and how much people complain about them.

If the program is successful, Amazon could be rolling it out to other cities soon.
