Back in 2017, a pair of Converse basketball shoes worn by Michael Jordan in the 1984 Olympic basketball finals sold for over $190,000, making them the most expensive sneakers sold at auction.
That is, until now.
That record was shattered by a pair of 1972 Nike “Moon Shoes,” which happen to be one of the first modern sneakers ever created. They’re the ones Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman made by pouring rubber onto a waffle iron.
Well, that pair of shoes -- which many believe are the most important artifacts in Nike’s long history -- sold for a staggering $437,500.
