Florida Man gets arrested in jail parking lot

We love a good Florida Man story! This one happened right here in Tampa Bay!

A 68-year-old Homosassa man was released from the Land O Lakes Detention Center--where he'd been held on a misdemeanor battery charge since March-- and later arrested in the jail parking lot. Why? He broke into over 2 DOZEN cars after being released, because he "needed a ride home."

He admitted to police that he was trying to steal a vehicle, and even attempted to hot-wire an ATV in the prison jail lot.

Video surveillance of the parking lot showed the defendant "attempting to enter 26 vehicles in the common parking area by pulling on door handles," but "all vehicles were locked so entry was not made," the complaint said, adding that two sheriff's office vehicles — a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Kawasaki Mule ATV — were among those he attempted to break into and steal.

Back to jail you go!
