You can now rent an Italian grandmother to come cook for you

Growing up, the women in my family were all amazing cooks. Both of my grandmothers have left this Earth, but my father's mother--my Nana (pron: NAHN-na. With an accent!)--was a Sicilian woman who emigrated to Ybor city with her family in the 1940s. She was always so vibrant and full of life, and most of my memories of her involve being in the kitchen, making the most incredible meals.

I can't bring Nana back, but I can rent an Italian grandmother to come to my house and cook for me, and you can too!

There's an Italian beer company--Birra Moretti--that's hosting a service called Deliver-a-Nonna ("Nonna" is the more traditional mainland Italian word for "grandma") where an Italian grandmother will come to your house and cook a fabulous three-course meal for you and your friends. The idea is part of Moretti's mission to "bring more people together around tables in 2019." Which is amazing, especially considering that only about 40% of Americans even eat dinner at the table anymore.

According to Birra Moretti's website, the Nonnas will arrive in logoed cars, they'll bring all the necessary cooking supplies with them, and create an authentic Italian home-cooking experience, right in your kitchen. Unfortunately, the service is currently only available in the UK. But you better believe I'll be the first person to sign up if this ever comes to the US.

I could literally cry thinking about all the wonderful meals I shared as a kid with Nana. What an awesome treat it would be to have a similar experience again.

Salud!
