4th of July weekend is going to be BUSY

With July 4thfalling on a Thursday this year, a lot of people will be getting an extra long holiday weekend so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that a lot of people will be traveling for the Independence Day holiday. In fact, the AAA reports that a record 48.9-million Americans will travel 50 miles or more over the July 4th holiday, which is 4.1% more than last year

Overall, road trips will be the most popular form of travel over the holiday, with 41.4-million people hitting the road, up 4.3% from last year. In addition, for the 10thyear in a row, air travel is up, with 3.96-million people flying to their destination, up 5.3% from last year. Other forms of travel, like trains, buses and cruise ships, are also up with 3.55-million using those modes of transport, up 0.6%

Of course with all those people hitting the road, there’s going to be a lot of traffic. The AAA warns that Wednesday, July 3rd will be the worst day for travelers, with folks in some major metro areas experiencing delays of almost four times the normal commute.
