Walmart will start delivery groceries...and putting them in your fridge

Grocery delivery services have become very popular... lots of people like the ability to skip the trip to the grocery store, and are willing to pay a fee to save the time. There are also big retailers (Walmart and Target, for example) who will delivery groceries to your trunk, and all you have to do is pull into the parking lot.

Walmart is taking these services a step further: they'll be rolling out the option to have a delivery person bring your groceries INTO YOUR HOUSE and put them away for you.

Now, the idea of this is great. You make a list, someone shops for you, and you don't even have to be home when them come over! They can just bop into your kitchen and stick everything in the fridge! Woo!

Except that I have yet to talk to one single person who would be comfortable with a stranger going into their home and rifling through their kitchen while they are away.

The new service is called “inHome” and it’s being tested in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Vero Beach this fall, with more cities in the works. It’s supposed to be as easy as placing a grocery order online and choosing “InHome Delivery” at checkout. You pay through the Walmart app, and you're done.

The delivery people will be trained and vetted Walmart workers who’ve been at a local store for at least a year, and will also have a wearable camera, so customers can see the process in action. This won't be free, of course, but Walmart hasn't disclosed the cost yet.

I know there are other services where people come into your home while you're away... For example, my friend uses an app called Rover to have someone come walk her dog when she has to work a long day. But she MET the dog walker before they agreed on the service, and my friend felt comfortable letting this person come in her home and interact with her dog because they'd met first! I don't think I'd be comfortable with a stranger being in my house when I wasn't there. There's a pretty short list of people who I'd allow in my home unsupervised... sorry not sorry! LOL!

Would you use this? I mean, the person wears a camera, so maybe I'm overreacting.
