Vacation to space!

I think it's truly incredible that we are living in a time where vacations to space are a reality, and not just part of the plot in a science-fiction movie.

NASA has announced that it will open the International Space Station to tourism as early as next year (Until now, commercial use of the ISS has been banned).

The cost will be roughly $35,000 a night, and you can stay up to 30 nights. The biggest expense will be getting there, though. You'll have to pay a private company to fly you to the ISS and back.

In case you were wondering, it takes anywhere between 6 hours and 2 days for the Soyuz (currently the only platform with the capability to transport humans from Earth to the ISS) to reach the space station, depending on how long it takes the craft to orient its orbit with the ISS for safe docking.

It currently costs SpaceX roughly $60 million per trip, so the total cost for a space vacation would be in the millions...which means it's only available to the mega-rich.

But with more and more private companies getting into the space business, it's possible that the cost could decrease over time as the technology becomes more efficient.

If you've got a ton of money lying around, you can book your trip as early as 2020!
