Did you get stuck in traffic yesterday afternoon around 5 on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge? If you did, it might have been because of this.
An injured pelican was stuck on the southbound side of the bridge, and a Florida State Trooper stopped to help the little guy. The pelican had injured its wings and couldn't fly, so the trooper captured it and took it to the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary in Indian Shores. The call about the bird came in at about 5:10 Thursday afternoon.
