Kid Rock is getting a new lawn ornament for his Nashville home: A seven-foot-tall statue of a hand flipping the bird. Ya heard right!
He got the idea from a Vermont man named Ted Pelkey, who put one on his property to protest his town's refusal to let him develop his land.
Rock actually called Ted and told him, quote, "I like your style." Ted hooked him up with the artist who made the statue, and the guy made another one for Rock. The artist is personally driving it from Vermont to Nashville for him.
On the one hand, I believe in property rights, and if Kid Rock (or this Vermont guy) wants to put middle finger art in his yard, more power to him. He owns the land and has that right. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to have to explain that one to small kids who happen to be walking by the house, and then showing the middle finger to their friends at school.
That reminds me of THIS Bradenton house. The owner was in a dispute with city officials, so he decided to paint the entire house like a giant American flag. It's pretty rock & roll and I'm a fan. Ps--that house is for sale if you're interested.
