The 3 Women That Changed My Life

Happy International Woman’s Day! There have been 3 woman in my life that truly shaped and molded me into the man I am today.

I’m going to start with my mom who I lost to breast cancer when I was 17. My mom was the strongest women I’ve ever seen in my life. The knowledge mom gave me about people has shaped my whole life.

The biggest thing she taught me was there was nothing more attractive to a woman than a man who gives respect to all women.

My mom taught me how to talk to people and always take the time to hear their stories. She also told me to always stand my ground when I believe in something and to not be afraid to question things. She had a saying, “If they don’t hear you, do a tap dance on their damn desk until they do!”

The second woman that made the biggest impression on me was my grandmother, my mom’s mother.

Grandma taught me about hard work and dedication. She was always my biggest cheerleader no matter what it was I was into at the time. She always told me that the most talented person doesn’t always win, it’s about who also works the hardest at something.

My grandma was the one that taught me about comedy. She was one of the funniest story tellers you’ve ever heard. That’s where I learned how to do it.

The 3rd woman that has made me the man I am today is my wife Stefanie. I’m convinced without Stef, I wouldn’t be here right now. I would have drank myself to death. FYI, this May it’ll be 14 years since I had a drink.

Stef has been by my side 20 years now and I fall more in love with her every day! She’s the most positive person I’ve ever met, she always helps me see the bright side of life ya know? Stef is one of those, to quote Prince, “those kind of cars that don’t pass you every day.” I’ve never seen another human being that cares more for others, always puts their feelings before her own. She’s taught me how to love, how to enjoy the moment, and how to be strong in some of the worst situations you could ever imagine. Love? Love is not a strong enough word for how I feel about my wife.

I hope this wasn’t to much rambling. I just wanted to celebrate International Woman’s Day by telling you a little something about the woman that mean so much in my own life.
