13-year-old Florida girl survives shark attack!

It's not every day a teen girl gets bitten by a shark and lives to tell the tale. 13-year-old Ella Reed of St Lucie County (east coast of Florida) was swimming in the Atlantic on Thursday afternoon and was bitten by what she believes to be a 4-foot bull shark.

The shark bit her in the stomach, and ended up biting her arm also, because she used her arm in an attempt to block the shark. Ella says she got out of the water and a friend drove her home on a golf cart. Ella's parents initially thought they were being pranked, but then realized the blood and bite marks were real.

Ella was a good sport while in the hospital, telling medical staff they could "take pictures" if they wanted. Ella says she's already returned to the beach where the attack happened, and plans to return to the water as soon as her stitches are out! Ella is an avid surfer and swimmer, and says this hasn't scared her off of water activities. Ella's family loves water, and views the incident as a learning experience!
