Tampa Police wrangle huge gator on Howard Ave!

Most people head out on Howard Ave in Tampa for a night out on the town, but sometimes it turns into an episode of Wild Kingdom. Tampa Police trapped a nearly 10-foot alligator on Howard early this morning (Wednesday)!

Captain Phil Walters, a certified alligator trapper, says their mating season is right around the corner, so expect to see more gators in areas where you typically wouldn't. Also, gators tend to be more aggressive during mating season, so it's always a smart idea to give them plenty of space. If a gator is in an area where it could be a danger to people or pets, call Fish & Wildlife.
