Stay-at-home order for Pinellas starts Thursday

Beginning tomorrow (Thursday), all of Pinellas County is being instructed to stay at home, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. The order allows for categories of businesses and jobs that are considered essential, like grocery stores; utilities; manufacturing and construction; government; health care facilities; gas stations; banks; hotels; laundromats and restaurants serving food to-go. Unlike other orders around the state and country, Pinellas County's lets "non-essential" business to stay open as long as they follow CDC guidelines about social distancing.

And, while county beaches remain closed, the order keeps parks and boat ramps open.

Tampa's Mayor Jane Castor initially planned to put the City of Tampa on a stay-at-home order as well, but was overriden by Hillsborough County Commissioners. So a safer-at-home directive is in place, and she's advising that people keep a minimum distance of 10 feet, and not to engage in activities that could put you at risk.
