Vegan runner doesn't want you to grill meat

Remember back in the day, when someone didn't like something, they'd just not do that thing? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I have always been of the mindset that people should be able to live their lives however they want. As long as you're not hurting anyone, who am I to tell you how to live? If I happen to not agree with you, it doesn't matter! Because it's not my life, it's yours! So it's hard for me to understand people like this woman:

A recent Twitter thread shared on Best of Nextdoor, a Twitter account dedicated to neighbor-on-neighbor pettiness, revealed the ridiculous request one vegan runner made of their neighbors.

Apparently the runner, from Berkley, California, finds the smell of cooked meats “overpowering” so, now that the weather is getting nicer, they asked neighbors to close their windows when they cook, and to also refrain from grilling meats outdoors. They added, “Quite honestly, the odor is offensive and I'm hoping our community can have some empathy for its plant-based neighbors.”

The writer also had the nerve to share, “I don’t want to be a sterotype so I won’t go into detail on why the odor of cooking animals is offensive,” adding, “but I encourage you to do research and join the movement of pple fighting back.”

I have two thoughts here. First of all, if you know that you hate the smell of meat on the grill, and that people tend to grill meat around dinnertime (shocker!), perhaps it's best for you as a vegan not to run outdoors during peak grilling time. Secondly, you can't tell people what to do in their own homes/yards, if they're not committing crimes or hurting anyone. Am I crazy here? If someone tried to tell me what I was allowed to cook for dinner, I'd laugh in their face and kick them off my porch. The nerve of this one, I swear!
