Florida teens rescued at sea by boat named "Amen"

If you've ever doubted the existence of a higher power, maybe this story will change your mind!

Two teens were at the beach in St Augustine earlier this week. They were taking advantage of "senior skip day" and enjoying some time in the water, when they were swept out to sea by a rip current.

Tyler Smith and Heather Brown were weak and tired from treading water for over two hours, and they began to cry and pray aloud for help. A short time later, their prayers were answered...by a boat named the "Amen."

"Over all the wind, waves, and engines, we thought we heard a desperate scream," Captain Eric Wagner told a local news station. "Exhausted and near the end, the boy told me he called out for God's help. Then we showed up."

"I told them the name of the vessel, that's when they started to cry," Wagner said. "The young couple was gracious and grateful to us and to God. It was the latter all along."

The two friends, who graduate on May 19, both plan on serving in the military and believe this experience will help them.

What an incredible end to what could have been a tragic story!

If you're not familiar with rip currents or how dangerous they can be, check out the video below. I've lived in Florida my whole life, and wasn't aware of how to spot a rip current from the beach...this video is very helpful in identifying what to look for before you enter the water.
